About Rick
A neighbour who’s put in the work
Rick Di Lorenzo has called Milton home for decades and served southeast Milton as its Town Councillor for twelve years. In 2021, residents voted him the Milton Champion Award — Milton’s favourite local politician.
He’s the publisher of the Milton Villager, a father, and a familiar face at community events from Canada Day to the Milton Halal Food Festival. His approach is simple: being a councillor isn’t a side job, it’s a commitment — you show up all year, not just at election time.
Now he’s running for Ward 3 Regional Councillor to bring that experience to Halton Region, where decisions on police, public health, roads and growth shape daily life in Milton.

Priorities
What I’ll fight for at the Region
Safe streets for families
I created Milton’s Traffic Calming Policy — now used in every ward. I’ll push for red-light and speed cameras in community safety zones, speed-display boards, and stronger enforcement near our schools and parks. As a dad whose kids walk and bike, this is personal.
Take back control of growth
We’ve lost control of our own future. I’ll put residents first — not developers or the Fortune 500. Not every development application deserves a yes, and Milton’s growth should protect the neighbourhoods we already have.
Value for your tax dollars
Milton’s taxes keep climbing without the services to match. I’ll bring real budget scrutiny and spending discipline to the Region, so residents get value for every dollar they pay.
Support for local business
Small businesses are more than 60% of Milton’s economy, and too often they’re stuck fighting permits and red tape. I’ll be their advocate and help local entrepreneurs start and grow.
Community safety & public health
Regional Council oversees Halton police and public health — a focus of mine throughout my career. I’ll make sure Milton’s voice is heard on both.

Being a councillor isn’t a side job — it’s a commitment. I’ll be here every day, knocking on doors and answering calls, working for you all year, not just at election time.

The Traffic Calming Policy he created
- Created Milton’s Traffic Calming Policy — now used across all wards to make roads safer.
- Started the Milton Infrastructure Reserve to protect the town’s long-term financial health.
- Helped pass the Milton District Hospital reserve fund — credited by Halton Healthcare as a reason the hospital expansion moved ahead.
- Chaired Milton’s Economic Development Committee and served on Conservation Halton and the Milton Public Library Board.
- Publisher of the Milton Villager and a supporter of Milton Canada Day, the Milton Halal Food Festival, and Milton District Hospital.
